ASSE International Student Exchange Program seeks host parents for upcoming year

EAST LANSING, Mich.  — The ASSE International Student Trade Plan is attempting to join host mother and father with global learners for the future faculty yr in mid-Michigan.

Karen Joseph is the area agent for the ASSE Intercontinental College student Trade Plan. She connects host moms and dads and international students with similar passions.

“We want the young ones to be happy, but it is truly the mother and father who decide on the college students,” Joseph mentioned.

Anthony Soto and James McGrath have been host moms and dads two times.

“We wanted to host for our young daughter. We wanted her to fulfill new people and be uncovered to distinct means of thinking,” Soto explained.

The to start with time was with a student from France, and the 2nd time was with a scholar from Thailand.

Equally college students are back again in their property nations, but they program on reconnecting shortly.

“In a 7 days from now, we’re going to France to stop by him [French student] since, you know, lengthy time no see,” Kinsey McGrath, the daughter of Soto and McGrath explained.

Down the street from them was Gustavo Arellano, an international college student from Mexico who attended Okemos High College.

Arellano said he failed to have large anticipations for the United States but was fortunately astonished.

“I was just anticipating respect and really like from my family members, but when I arrived, it was a lot more than that,” Arellano mentioned.

Arellano is again in Mexico but mentioned he plans to return to the U.S. for grad college.
