California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Tuesday proposed setting up a statewide constitutional “firewall” around abortion legal rights, responding to the leaked draft view that exhibits the Supreme Court is set to overturn Roe v. Wade.
“California will build a firewall all-around this proper in our point out structure,” Newsom stated in a joint statement with California’s State Senate President Toni Atkins and State Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon and shared by his business office on Twitter.
The assertion said California lawmakers will suggest a constitutional modification to “enshrine the proper to select.”
