School officer arrested for child molestation in Carrollton

Investigators reported they arrested Jerric Gilbert on Friday. He was a university source officer at Carrollton Elementary University.

CARROLLTON, Ga. — An elementary faculty source officer was arrested by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation for baby molestation in Carrollton, the agency explained on Friday.

According to the GBI, it was asked for to investigate an allegation of “criminal misconduct” from 35-calendar year-aged Jerric Gilbert by Carrollton Town Faculties, to which he was assigned as a university resource officer at Carrollton Elementary University. 

Gilbert was also an officer with the Carrollton Police Section.  The Carrollton Police Office also performed an inner investigation.

Right after investigating, the GBI said Gilbert had “inspired an 11-year-aged female to contact him inappropriately even though at his home,” on April 15. He was arrested on a single count of kid molestation and a person count of violation of oath by a general public officer.  

He was fired from his positions at the police division and the faculty following the investigation, the GBI said. 

Carrollton City Universities issued this assertion on the circumstance on Saturday:

11Alive spoke to a father or mother whose son and daughter interacted with the now-fired officer at Carrollton Elementary University.

“Every interaction that myself, my partner, and both of my children have had with him have been absolutely nothing but beneficial,” she stated.

The mum or dad reported her son started off acquiring bullied in kindergarten, and Gilbert took him less than his wing. 

“He befriended my son and was like his very best close friend,” she stated. “That appropriate there was enormous to me as a father or mother. He would appear residence, and he would inform me, ‘Officer Gilbert, he danced with me, and he assisted me at the nurse’s place of work!’”

Gilbert was arrested on Friday, agents explained, at the Carroll County Sheriff’s Place of work and booked into the Carroll County Jail.

The GBI said the investigation continues to be ongoing and will turn its conclusions about to the Coweta Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Business for prosecution.
