MARTIN COUNTY — The university district proceeds investigating a photograph exhibiting 6 college students in entrance of Hidden Oaks Middle College, holding letters spelling out a racial slur. The picture was circulated on social media late Monday.

“The Martin County Faculty District is fully commited to advertising and keeping a finding out natural environment no cost of hateful, racist and discriminatory steps or conduct,” Superintendent John Millay explained in a assertion Tuesday.

What happened?

In the photograph, six pupils are keeping up substantial letters spelling a racial slur. The picture was distribute on line late Monday and appeared to have originated from Snapchat, a social media messaging app.

The photo prompted outrage on line from hundreds of persons, and the Martin County College District verified the image was taken at Concealed Oaks Middle University in Palm Metropolis.

Is the photograph true?

Yes. Authenticity of the image was confirmed, Millay claimed in his statement.

“We are moving with all deliberate pace to job interview all those people who may perhaps have been concerned in this shameful incident, and, unfortunately, can verify that the photograph is authentic,” he wrote.

How is the faculty district responding?

The college district is continuing its investigation into the incident. As of Tuesday afternoon, the pupils had not been recognized, Millay claimed.

What will be the penalties for the college students?

It’s unclear, but the pupils will face “correct disciplinary effects,” Millay claimed.

The district will self-control any pupils included with the picture, but by regulation simply cannot disclose their identities or how they are punished, the statement claimed.

The investigation is expected to be completed by Thursday, district officials reported.
