MSU Department of Geosciences, Partnership Middle School install interactive weather station, help students become ‘citizen scientists’

Barrett F. Gutter and Sarah R. Lalk, the two assistant scientific professors in MSU’s Division of Geosciences, have worked with the Partnership Center University in creating the process, which consists of a variety of meteorological instruments together with a thermometer, barometer, rain gauge, sling psychrometer, anemometer and wind vane.

“The climate station is intended to be an interactive, palms-on working experience for the college students,” Gutter explained. “The college students will be offered a sheet to history each day measurements of temperature, strain, precipitation form and total, relative humidity, wind velocity and wind path. Pupils also will be capable to share precipitation information with the CoCoRaHS.”
