HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) – Republican state senators outvoted impassioned Democratic opposition late Thursday to progress a proposal to insert language to the Pennsylvania Constitution stating explicitly that the document does not assurance any legal rights relating to abortion or public funding of abortions.
The chamber’s Rules Committee teed up the bundle of proposed amendments that would also need voters to show ID at polling areas and have gubernatorial candidates choose their possess working mates. A vote of the whole Senate could come about Friday.
